[I originally posted this Question/Problem in another thread and it received no attention. So I'm now posting it here.]

I'm trying to figure out how to view all my inventory items while creating my recipe.

So, i want to add a fermentable, or a hop while in the create recipe window. I select the fermentable, or hop button on the right side and only a few of my inventory items show up were i actually have much more. See attached screen shots. What am i doing wrong?

OK, I figured this out because it just happened to me. It tuns out that I had an item in inventory that was not on the fermentables list, so it wouldn't show up in the Add Fermentables dialog box. I think it happened because I had an item in the fermentables list ("Wheat Malt - Red") and added it to inventory. Then I added the Briess malts add-on and realized that there was a duplicate. The add-on had "Wheat - Red Malt (Briess)" but I also had "Wheat Malt - Red" on the list and in inventory. I deleted the original from the list to avoid duplication, so I then had an item in inventory that was not on the fermentables list. Once I changed my inventory item to "Wheat - Red Malt (Briess)" then it showed up when I pushed the Add Fermentable button. Check to see if you have a similar situation.

Thank you for your input, GigaFemto. In my viewpoint, however, this is an issue with BS4. I have never had a problem searching my inventory items with all the previous version I've used. I'm hoping Brad will at least take a look at this and offer some incite.

Thanks again!

Cheers

Well, as it turned out, the actual ingredient in your inventory needs to be in the list of ingredients registered on your system also. In other words, if you know you have 1 lb of Briess malt in inventory and you wish to add it to your recipe but when you chick the Add Fermentable button and the ingredient is not available even though the "Show Only Items in Local Inventory" is selected is because the ingredient in your inventory has no data attached to it. It exists in your inventory, but not according to BeefSmith even though the ingredient is listed when you select "Inventory". It needs to be a real ingredient that's a registered item in the BeerSmith database.

So, i clicked on the Puzzle Piece icon in the lower right hand corner, then select the ingredient group from the drop down list and let BeerSmith import the ingredient i selected by Brand Name, i.e. Briess. BeerSmith downloaded the ingredient.

Then try adding the ingredient again into your recipe.
