Problem on Galaxy Tab A Tablet running Android and Beersmith 3 Mobile Ver 3.2.7

Hi Brad,
Been a long time, I hope your are doing well. I've run into a "could not connect to recipe server" issue on an old Galaxy Tab A tablet running BeerSmith 3 mobile for android ver 3.2.7. I also run the same version on my Samsung phone and am able to connect to t he cloud server with that. I used to be able to connect with both as I generally develop recipes on the tablet (I can still see it : ) and use the phone with small screen during brew day for the timer. I'm assuming that since the phone is working and I can get to the cloud I don't have an issue with my account. Any thoughts on this would be greatly appreciated.

Which version of Android are you running? I wonder if it is possibly a very old SSL stack on an older Android device causing the problem much like we had on some old Macs.

It is sitting on Android 8.1.0. Samsung generally stops supporting devices after 4 to 6 year. I was thinking along the same lines.

That is a pretty old version, and from a quick google search it looks like Android is no longer updating the "trusted root certificate" list for old Android devices.

From what I can see you would need to do some work to update the certificates list manually. Here's a thread on it:

Since the Tab A is no longer supported and apparently not getting security updates any longer, I'm thinkin the path of least resistance is going to end up being a newer Tablet and copying apps across via cable. Safe to assume the database will come with it?
