Hi there, I wasn’t sure where to post this and a cursory look through didn’t cover my issue. To get to it: there are inconsistent sparge volumes between mbp app and iPhone online app. A recipe on mbp app shows 245.83 gal sparge water while on iPhone going through web it shows 215 gal. Maybe this issue has already been raised. Anyways, hopefully this can be resolved. Thank you in advance.

Are both using the same equipment profile? ... what is mbp? And by iPhone online app I assume you are talking Beersmith Mobile App? Or are you accessing Beersmith Web on your phone's browser? All three... Beersmith Desktop, Beersmith Mobile, and Beersmith Web operate slightly differently but to work consistently between the three you need to be using the same equipment profile.

Hello and thank you for the reply. I’m currently brewing a commercial batch and won’t be able to act on your advice until later. I guess I assumed that any saved changes would carry over between the platforms. I’m sorry about the jargon, mbp is MacBook Pro. The 245 gal value was on the mbp app and the 215 was web based using iPhone. Again, I’m sorry about the confusion. I’m not much of a forum guy. If I understand you correctly, the equipment profiles are unique to each platform?

Saved recipes and saved changes to those recipes are all unique to that recipe and do not affect anything else in your Beersmith database. If you change a parameter of the equipment profile, mash profile, ingredient characteristic, etc. in recipe A that change is only seen in recipe A and nowhere else.

Hi Kevin,
Thanks again. This may be a better way to explain what is happening. I created a recipe using apple lap top using the app. When I view this exact same recipe using iPhone through web based feature the recipe shows different sparge volume. I’ve been using BeerSmith for quite some time. This seems like a glitch between platforms. My thought was to bring this to the software persons attention. Maybe there is a better way to reach the software people.

Again, are you using the same equipment profiles? If the equipment profile on the laptop does not match the one saved on the iPhone then you will get different results. I also use Beersmith on a Dell laptop and Beersmith Mobile on an iPhone and both sync fine but I made sure from the start that all of my profiles match.

There is only one person who owns, operates and works at Beersmith... Brad Smith. He has no software people. I would contact him directly for further advise.

Hi Kevin, you have been gracious with your time, thank you.

Hi Kevin,

It’s taken a while to sort this one out but I found the issue.

The problem was grain absorption value in advanced settings. The settings were different between the two platforms. When they were set to the same value (0.96 oz/oz) the sparge water discrepancy resolved.

So, it appears that at least for the advanced settings, that these settings are unique to the platform. In other words, change grain absorption value in laptop app does not result in the same change in the web based app. When a recipe is viewed, the platform in use applies ‘it’s’ advanced settings.

In my case, I’m not sure how the grain absorption value was changed. I create recipes on my laptop and this app had the default value 0.96 oz/oz. It was the web based app that had the altered value. Anyways, I hope this info is useful for anyone that may have this issue.
