I have only brewed 5 times with my SS Brewtech 3V Rims System and the only issue that I seem to have is to slow the pumps down enough so that my water input equals my output into the brew kettle during sparging and that the whole 7 gallons will take an hour. I can get it to 20 to 30 minutes, but if I try to slow down the pumps more than that then I have problems pushing through the water or the wort as it will stall. I assume the 60 minute recommendation is solid, so how am I damaging the beer and do you have any tips so I can improve this process to where it should be?

Any help would be appreciated.

Thank you

As far as I know, fly sparging usually is done with gravity, not a pump. If your system requires that you pump the wort, I'd suggest a lower volume pump.

I use Riptide pumps on my 3 vessel system. I also had a learning curve trying to figure out a formula that worked. At first I tried to slow the flow going into the pumps but then they would starve and start making a squealing noise that didn't sound healthy for the pump. Now I use the ball valve going into the receiving kettle to adjust the flow (that's coming out of the pump) to get the flow rate I want.

I had the same issue, but I did not even think about adjusting the flow with the ball valve. I am sure that will work better than trying to slow the pumps to almost a stall. Thank you!
