When I go to add hops, Czech Saaz does not show up only summer saaz from australia, and Saaz U.S @ 4 AA and Saaz (U.S.) at 3.75 AA. Is there not a czech saaz option?

If they aren't in the data base, you can add them. Ingredients/Hops/Add Hops, then fill in the information that you have on the Saaz you're using.
You can also install the latest addon for hops.

Hi @arcticus did you do that, would like to know your experience
I've done it many times and it's very easy. Over the years we have had a couple of new maltsters and hop farms start up in my home state of Michigan and my LHBS store stocks many of them. Obviously because they are small and local they are not in the Beersmith ingredients database.

Whether you are adding a malt to the fermentables list or a new hops to the hops list the process is similar. First go to the Ingredients menu and open either Fermentables or Hops whichever you want to add.

My first step was to find a data sheet for my local hops which in this case is called Michigan Copper. An image of the data sheet is attached. With that in hand I go to the Ingredients menu and then open "Hops". You will see in the upper menu bar an option to Add Hops. Click that and a new window pops up. It is here that you will enter info from the data sheet... The name, the origin, the type of hops, alpha acids, beta acids, notes and more.

Adding a new malt is the same... find the data sheet and use the info to add yourself a new ingredient.

Good luck

Yeah that can be confusing the first time you notice it. BeerSmith sometimes groups hops by origin or uses slightly different naming. The U.S. Saaz entries are usually just substitutes with similar alpha acid ranges. If you want true Czech Saaz, you can manually add a custom hop and enter the specs from your supplier. That way your recipe stays accurate. The built in database updates don’t always keep up with every regional variety. It’s annoying but at least the workaround is simple once you set it up.
