Hi all, I hope somebody can help me with my problem.
I run Beersmith3 on my laptop which is not online. I have autorenew set up via the internet so I can use the desktop version on my PC. It autorenews on 9th July.
The other day my laptop told me my License had run out, I don't know how when it hasn't been online in 3+ years. I hooked my laptop up to internet and can access the beersmith website and it tells me my laptop is "offline". When I try to Activate my laptop it says "Cant connect to activation server". If anybody has an idea of what is going on please help. I fear I may have just lost 3+ years of recipes and equipment profiles(50+ recipes)

Hi,
I would recommend updating BeerSmith if you have not done so in a few years by downloading the latest version from BeerSmith.com as that has a simplified process to activate.

If you are unable to reach the server, please check your antivirus or firewall as likely one of those two is blocking the program from activating. Try whitelisting BeerSmith in those programs.

I have a similar situation, which just occurred today. My subscription is gold, I have two devices licensed: a desktop running Windows 11 and a laptop also running Windows 11. Both are using the latest version of Beersmith 3. I also run the online version on my Android 15 phone.
Today, I tried starting Beersmith 3 on the laptop to add a data point to my latest beer and got a familiar error message for this laptop: another copy of Beersmith might be running; open Beersmith, or exit. Before I could act, another error popped up: your trial period has expired; activate or buy a license. When I try to login, my credentials get rejected. When I go to the desktop and start the software, everything runs normally. When I logon to beersmith.com, my license credentials show the two devices and that it is active. I have always had the problem of the 'software running' tag file not always getting cleaned up on exit. When I try to test this by repeatedly starting and exiting (on either device) all is normal. Several years ago I made it a point to exit the software, Always, even if I was only going to be away for an hour. How can I get past this current anomaly on my laptop without losing all my local recipes and data?

This usually indicates the program crashed for some reason. Are you on a Mac or PC and what version are you running (check Help->About)?

After further experimenting, I was able to de-activate my laptop license and then re-activate it; which worked. Conclusion... Windows isn't perfect.
