I made a batch of Imperial Stout yesterday. It called for pale ale malt. I used Briess cbw pale ale malt its not in the malt list. I found that someone had taken a lot of effort to compile a large list which included the pale ale malt. The post said copy and paste it to the fermentables folder. I found no said folder nor any way the transfer it to the grains folder. Anyone help in this? I'm using version 2.?

Ingredients/fermentables/add fermentable.

Click ingredients on the top ribbon. From the menu that appears, click on fermentables and click on the Add Fermentable icon in the upper left part of the screen. Enter the malt and specifications in the pop up that appears. Specs can be found on the maltsters site or often on the homebrew shop's site.

You could install Briess malts from the add-ons menu if you want to install the entire product line.

Bob,
Thanks that worked fine once I got over the idea it wasn't just an add on. The Beer Smith Version 2.3 Doesn't call it Fermentables but grains and add grains.

Been a while since I used BS 2.x. Most things work about the same as in BS 3.X. Just some changes in nomenclature. Glad I was able to help.

I would strongly suggest upgrading to the current version of Beersmith. SOOO many improvements have been made since what you are using.
