Frequently when designing a recipe, I like to compare the contributions to gravity, color, bitterness, etc. of various ingredients, at various quantities, at various times. Currently, this is rather awkward to achieve in BeerSmith. You have to add an ingredient at your desired quantity at a given time, check the contribution, and then zero it out manually or delete it altogether.
What I'd like is a button and feature along with Edit, Delete, and Substitute called "Disable" that will leave a selected ingredient in the list, but remove its contribution to the stats of the recipe. This way, with a single click, you can see what that ingredient is adding to the recipe. That item in the ingredient list would turn gray or maybe red to indicate that it is not being used in the calculations of the recipe; you can select it and click "Disable" (or maybe the button says "Enable" for a disabled item) and then the ingredient will be used once again in the recipe calculations.
This would be particularly helpful when playing around with hop additions.
