I recently brewed a partial mash English Mild for a competition.  I started it about a month out since I was planning on bottling the brew with Brewer's Best carbonation tablets about  two weeks before the competition.  I have since talked to people that have said they I had problems with these tablets properly fermenting the beer.  I started shaking the bottles occasionally to help aid the yeast.  Is this a good strategy or should I just go back to priming sugar?

I used the tablets and they did the job just fine.  However I found that they added a subtle off-flavor that I found to be unpleasant.
My guess is that it is because the tablets are crystalline sugar, as opposed to a boiled simple syrup.
Now I just bottle off the keg.

Good luck in the competition.
