I want to add a new grain to Beersmith. Briess Caracrystal analysis is
Mealy 0% half 15% Glassy 85%
Plump 75%
Thru 3%
Moisture Content 4.0%
Extract FGDB 78%
Color 28 degrees
How does this fit into Beersmith:
Potential SG _____
Yield____
C/F difference___
MC ____
Diastatic Power ____
Protein ____

Not sure how to read grain analysis to input into beeersmith???

Hi,
Well you have the critical part which is the fine grain yield (it looks like) - so enter your yield at 78% (which will also set the potential since the two fields are tied).

The moisture is also there as is the color - so those should be straightforward.  It looks like you are missing the diastatic power, but it is zero for a crystal malt.  The protein you will need to guess at - but I would look at the other crystals which place it around 13%.  Since you don't have the coarse-fine yield I would default it to 1.5% which is typical.

The critical parameters are actually the color (28 SRM/Lov) and the Yield (78%).  If you have those two correct the calculations will all be OK in the program.
