What is the maximum Lbs / volume of grain oncan use in a 5 gal Gott mash tank? ???

I believe it is around 13 lbs of grain in a 5 gallon gott if memory serves me right, with about 1.2 qt/lb of grain.

You might be able to stuff another half pound in but it would be a very thick mash at that point.

Cheers!

Most I've tried is 13# and it was a real strain to keep it floated and from getting stuck; I won't try that much again.

I have done a lot at 12# and never had a problem, so that's my magic number.

I have done as much as 16 lbs and never had a problem.  It is thick but all the beer came out fine.

Cheers 8)

my mash/lauter is 5 gall. round and at 16 lbs you would have a thick mash at around  .9 to 1

personally thats pushing it and you would be better off with a 10 gall mash/lauter tun.
