Greetings

Am simply looking for any red flag issues with what I am about to do.

I made a 2L starter with harvested yeast last evening. It is happily spinning on my stir plate. I was planning on brewing a Cream Ale with it. As I am short of rice hulls I do not want to experience a stuck sparge again.

So I am changing my beer to an IPA. It calls for a 3.5L starter.

Could I simply boil up, cool and add a 1.5L starter to my already 2L starter not yet finished.

I have over 24 hours before I pitch.

Comments?

I step up colonies from cell plates by successive additions of low gravity wort (~1.020) to higher (~1.040) stepping from 10 ml to 50 mil to 150 mil just by adding more wort.  The less crashing and decanting with the small volumes, the better and the lesser chance for contamination.

Similar approach to what you are looking to do and it works fine.
