I?m entering some brew session data and I?m confused by the fields asking for post mash and pre boil gravities. And the estimates in each are 10 points different. I would think post mash and pre boil are the same thing. Can anyone explain this?
Thanks

Post mash is the gravity of the wort coming from your mash tun. Pre boil is used if you happen to add fermentables; brown sugar, molasses, DME etc. If you are not adding any additional fermentables then these two are the same.
