What (if any) is the significance of 22 ounces (the capacity of a bomber)?

There is no clear answer.  Some say it is halfway between 12 and 32 oz. Some claim Lagunitas found this size to be a match for price, volume and cost to package.  Others suggest the bottling lines could handle 11oz / 12 and 22 oz bottles bit any bigger would mean changing bottling hardware.

thanks. I thought it might have something to do with bottling apparatus rather than volume or ratio.
