I recently tried some rice hulls with my wheat beer (60% wheat!) and it really helped!

The usually slow lauter went much better with the addition of the hulls.  Efficiency was about the same as it was without the hulls.

Does anyone else use these for high adjunct beers?

Cheers!

Yeah, I use them any time I brew a beer with a significant amount of wheat. They work wonders in the all-wheat porter I make! It might be expensive for you guys back there, but with all the rice here in Japan, it's cheap insurance for high-non-barley brews.

I'm a believer in rice hulls too!  I won't do another high adjunt brew with out them!
