Johnson A419 Controller

I just purchased the Johnson A419 controller. My question is I have a freezer on the top and regrigerator with the sensor on the bottom. If I set the temp for lower refrigerator to 55F will the freezer continue to maintain a freezing temperature? I don't want to experiment and lose 20 pounds of shrimp I have for an upcoming party.

My understanding is that combo units run to stay frozen, and the spill-over air is directed to the fridge side.  So if the whole thing is set to keep the fridge at 55F the freezer will thaw.

Could be wrong, I can't imagine them having two separate compressors.
