Recipe Conversion Tool
Have you ever wanted to convert that all-grain recipe to
an extract recipe? Want to try your hand at partial mash brewing but
your favorite recipe is all grain?
The recipe conversion wizard helps you convert recipes
from one type to another. Using a fairly complex set of internal
rules, the wizard attempts to convert the recipe between extract,
partial mash and all grain brewing easily and quickly.
You just specify your base malt to use and the equipment
profile to use for the new brew, and BeerSmith can perform an automated
conversion. It attempts to match the existing recipe's color,
original gravity and bitterness.
For all-grain to extract conversions, BeerSmith also
allows you to specify reasonable substitutes for grains as part of the
grain database. For those that can't be converted easily,
BeerSmith will list and then highlight those items for manual
conversion.
While not perfect for every conceivable recipe, the
conversion tool works very well about 90% of the time!
